How to Use Carrier Oils?

In order to use Carrier Oils while applying essential oil to one's body, it is best to mix the carrier oil and essential oil in a small container instead of applying separately. The amount of carrier oil you want to use depends on how many drops of the essential oil you are using, how much of an area of your skin you are covering and how diluted you want the mix to be.

Using a 2% essential oil dilution is considered a safe guideline for topical application on adults and 1% dilution for children or elderly is regarded as safe. A good thumb rule while seeking to make a 2% dilution of essential oil, one can take 12 drops of essential oil and mix with 30ml cold pressed carrier oil, lotion, vegetable butter or other natural lipid/moisturizer. Even though measuring by drop is not the most accurate method of measuring essential or carrier oil, but it is acceptable for creating small topical blends.

Each carrier oil offers a different combination of therapeutic properties and characteristics. Natural lotions, cream, body oils, bath oils, lip balms and other moisturizing skin care products are also made using carrier oils. Since every individual is different, one can use a carrier oil more with various oils in order to find what mixture works best. Before selecting Carrier Oils is it advisable to research and choose which carrier will work best for your skin. Moksha's Carrier Oils are cold pressed, different oils have different therapeutic advantages and can be easily mixed with essential oils.
